Are you looking for fun fall activities for the autumn season? If so, the Scarecrow Trail Exhibit at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens may be the thing for you. This fun event is free with the normal price of admission and a great activity for the whole family – you don’t have to worry about the little ones getting frightened by the scary masks or costumes here. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Saturday, September 30, until Sunday, November 12, so you have plenty of weekends to choose from.
Fuel Up Beforehand
A way to make this activity even more fun is to make a whole day out of it. First, grab a bite to eat. Choosing warm, comforting food will get you in the fall spirit so you’ll have plenty of energy to enjoy your day. You can always choose a great San Antonio restaurant to eat at, or you and your family can make a delicious meal at home. Either way, this is a great way to start out the fun.
Head to the Exhibit
After you have a meal, it’s time to go to the Scarecrow Trail Exhibit. This is an especially fun activity for the kids since there are so many different types of scarecrows to see. There are traditional scarecrows, of course, but the San Antonio Botanical Gardens get really creative with some of the others. Tell your kids to remember which ones are their favorites so you can talk about it on the ride home. And don’t forget to take plenty of pictures; you’ll want to remember this fall fun for years to come.
Keep the Fun Going
Once you leave the exhibit, it’s time for even more fun. Head to a local pumpkin patch or grocery store to buy some pumpkins to carve or decorate. Let your kids pick out their favorite pumpkins, and help them choose the best ones. You can even pick one out for yourself or choose a few to decorate with. Then, take the pumpkins home and either paint or carve them. You and your kids will have fun creating pretty fall decorations for your home. All of these activities are sure to make some fun fall memories that you’ll have forever.
Of course, all these activities involve a lot of driving around. If you need a new car to get where you need to go, come visit Red McCombs Ford here in San Antonio, Texas before you go anywhere else.
